Plowing Exhibition 2006
Thanks to everyone who participated in and/or assisted with the Plowing Exhibition on October 28 & 29, 2006. I hope you had an enjoyable time.
Approximately 35 horses or mules, 42 tractors and a 5/8ths scale model steam engine were involved in plowing 150 acres over two days. The numbers were compiled from the registration forms and may be less than the actual number of participants.
Horses and/or mules came from Birmingham, Blakesburg, Douds, Fairfield, Farmington, Kirkville, Libertyville, Oskaloosa and Ottumwa. Tractors came from Batavia, Blakesburg, Bloomfield, Drakesville, Eddyville, Fairfield, Lovilia, Montezuma, New Sharon, North Liberty, Ollie, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Tracy and Unionville in Iowa and Arbela, Mo.
Horse breeds represented were Belgians, Percherons and Suffolks. Draft mules were also involved in the activities.
Tractors represented were Allis-Chalmers, CA, WC; Case, SC; Ford, 4000; International Harvester, Cub, H, M, Super W 6 TA. WR 9, W 6, 350; John Deere, A, B, D, G, GP, 60, 530, 620, 720, 730; McCormick SW 4, Massey-Harris, 33; Minneapolis-Moline, J, U, Z, ZB, R; Oliver, 1650.
Plans are to hold the event again next year on October 20 and 21, 2007. The rain date will continue to be the following weekend after the scheduled date.
Thanks for taking the time to complete the registration form. A mailing list has been compiled from those who registered for this year’s event. If you know of any others who would like to receive information about the plowing exhibition, please send us their names and addresses. An informational flyer will be mailed out around Labor Day to those on the mailing list.
