This event is solely for the purpose of providing the public with the opportunity to view and/or participate in the plowing exhibition. No fees are charged to view or participate in the activities.

This is an opportunity for individuals to relive a part of our heritage or to view for the first time that part of our heritage as it relates to methods of plowing the soil.

In 2005 participants came from over 170 miles to join the activities. Approximately 39 horses and/or mules and 24 tractors as well as a 5/8's scale steam engine were involved in the plowing of approximately 150 acres the two days.

In 2007 approximately 35 horses and/or mules, 50 tractors  were involved in plowing 180 acres the two days.

Plans are to have the event again next year on October 18 and 19, 2008. The rain date will be the following weekend.

The 2008 Plowing Exhibition will NOT be held this year due to the flood of 2008. We are  working on our homes, buildings and the fields. The fields have holes, trash and water standing in places. Homes and buildings needing repairs and removal of the mud and other flood related items to make them functional again. Thanks for your understanding due to the circumstances.

Plans are to HAVE the Plowing Exhibition again this fall providing if all goes well. We still have work to accomplish from the flood of 08. But we are making progress each and every day. Just waiting for the weather to cooperate for the spring field work to begin and things will look and feel much better. Been nasty weather, wet and cold, and have yard work to get accomplished as well. I hope to do a better job of keeping this site updated. Thanks to all that have continued to check this site.

October 9, 2009

Due to the rain and wet conditions it is doubtful that the Plowing Exhibition will be held on October 17 or 18.

At this time very little has been harvested and the weather forecast for next week does not look favorable to accomplish much field work.

If things change for the better, it will be posted here if and/or when we are able to have the event.

October 14, 2009

We will NOT be able to have the Plowing Exhibition this weekend, October 17th and 18th due to the wet weather. We have been unable to get the crops out and have ground to work, as well as the ground being wet and muddy.

We hope to be able to have the event October 24th and 25th weather permitting.

October 22, 2009

Once again I must post that we will be UNABLE to have the Plowing Exhibition this weekend, October 24th and 25th due to the rain. As of 9 am today I have 1" in the rain gauge and the forecast is for additional rain.

We shall try to have the event next weekend,  October 31st and November 1st.

****************************************************************

October 23, 2009

At 9 am this morning I have an additional 2" of rain in the gauge for a total of 3" with more rain forecast today. The current forecast is for more rain Sunday and again next week. So we again play the waiting game to see if we will be able to have the event next weekend.

October 29, 2009

We will NOT be having the Plowing Exhibition this weekend (October 31 and November 1) due to the rain and wet weather. The fields are not favorable for any activities.
